Note: To qualify for “Meta-Analysis Quiz”, students must attend all five (5) sessions.
Workshop Pre-requisite:
*Thorough knowledge of Biology
Workshop Content: With an exponential growth in life science research data, familiarity with bioinformatics has become an exciting as well as a popular skill set both in industry and academia. To increase learners’ competencies and to get them familiarized with data science professions we implemented a set of bioinformatics (meta-analysis) exercises into a hands-on workshop. Meta-analysis exercises were designed to teach participants to navigate bioinformatics databases such as Qiagen Knowledge Base (QKB), use built-in tools, analyze data, and perform simulation using Molecular Activity Predictor (MAP). The skillsets imparted by this research-focused bioinformatics pedagogical approach will empower participants to be able to leverage this knowledge for their future endeavors in various research applications.
Elements of Engagement: Throughout the workshop, participants will explore the computer-based in silico analysis of genes and protein molecules by applying tools of Grow, Connect, Trim and Keep, Path Explorer features along with Molecular Activity Predictor (MAP) by being introduced to an inquiry-based scenario designed for Meta-analysis exercises, utilizing Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) of Qiagen Knowledge Base (QKB) Everyone eligible is welcome to register, attend and benefit from these currently in high demand skill set.
