it prevents data from being intercepted or altered. Data such as personal information and health information are especially sensitive and need to be protected from attempted theft. In this day and age, with almost every company out there having a website to promote their brand, cybercriminals have an easy time finding and taking advantage of poorly configured servers. Cybercrimes are dangerous because they can lead to severe economic repercussions.
