The primary route of arsenic exposure for the general population is via the ingestion of contaminated food or water. Adverse health effects associated with long-term ingestion of inorganic arsenic include developmental effects, diabetes, pulmonary disease, and cardiovascular disease. Skin changes like pigmentation, Hyperkeratosis. Skin, Bladder, and lung cancer have been observed as well. Organic arsenic compounds, which are abundant in seafood, are less harmful to health and are rapidly eliminated by the body. Arsenic poisoning is a fast-growing concern in Asian countries including India, Bangladesh, and China. According to WHO estimates more than 39 million people in Bangladesh were drinking water with levels of arsenic above the recommended level of 10 µg/L(1). A similar dose-response function has been found in other parts of Bangladesh. An analysis published in 2012 for all districts indicated an annual total of nearly 43 000 deaths (about 5.6% of all deaths) attributable to chronic arsenic exposure. Also in India Arsenic menace is causing serious health hazards with an estimated 10 million people at risk, especially in Bihar. This is an observational study looking at various literature and search engine available online. The exposed population is often unaware of the problem of arsenic exposure, which only amplifies the burden of adverse effect of arsenic on health. This topic of sign and symptoms of Arsenic poisoining : an Introduction is an attempt to hight the extent of problem and issue of awareness about arsenic poisoning.
